10DLC Registration Form Guide

When completing the 10DLC submission form it is extremely important to be sure you are submitting accurate information. We have created this guide to help with any questions you may have while completing the form.

Legally Registered Business Name*

Ensure you are entering your Legal Business Name EXACTLY as it appears on your tax documents; this includes punctuation and spelling. If you are unsure of your Legal Business name or EIN, you can reach out to the IRS to verify your information by calling the Business & Specialty Tax Line at 800-829-4933. The hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday.

Friendly Business Name/DBA* If you operate under a different name than your Legal Business Name, you will enter that here. If not, you may re-enter your Legal business name to proceed.  
Tax Number/ID/EIN* You can find your Employer Identification Number (EIN) or Federal Tax Identification Number on your W-2 or by reaching out to the IRS Business and Specialty Tax line at 800-829-4933. The hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday.
Business Type* Select the company business structure. Options are:
  • Partnership
  • Corporation
  • Co-operative
  • Limited Liability Corporation
  • Non-profit Corporation
Your Business Address* Enter the complete business address.
Business Website/Online Presence* Enter the full URL for your company website.
Privacy Policy Link* Enter the organization's Privacy Policy that can be accessed publicly.
Terms and Conditions linkEnter the organization's Terms and Conditions that can be accessed publicly.
Organization Legal Type/Form* 

Enter the type of business as registered with the government. Options are:

  • Private Company
  • Publicly Traded Company
  • Government
  • Non-Profit

If Publicly Traded Company is selected here, additional questions related to the company's stock symbol, stock exchange and Brand Contact will be asked. The Brand Contact is the email address of a person who works at the brand who can complete the 2FA for the brand. 

Are you a 527 Political organization? * A 527 organization or 527 group is a type of U.S. tax-exempt organization organized under Section 527 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code (26 U.S.C. § 527). A 527 group is created primarily to influence the selection, nomination, election, appointment or defeat of candidates to federal, state or local public office.

WARNING: Express written consent must be received from your customers to send marketing text messages according to 10dlc registration guidelines.This is a reminder that marketing use case requires written consent. Verbal consent is not acceptable for marketing use case.
Message Program Use Case*The use case defines the type of messaging content you will be sending.

Below are the values to choose from. You can select more than one use case but note that requirements on opt-in may differ across different use cases.

  • 2FA - Any authentication, verification, or one-time passcode
  • Account Notifications - Standard notifications for account holders, relating to and being about an account.
  • Customer Care - All customer care interaction, including but not limited to account management and customer support.
  • Delivery Notifications - Notification about the status of the delivery of a product or service.
  • Fraud Alert Messaging - Notifications regarding potentially fraudulent activity on a user’s account.
  • Higher Education - Messaging created on behalf of Colleges or Universities, including School Districts and education institutions.
  • Marketing - Messages for the purpose of encouraging the purchase or rental of, or investment in, property, goods, or services.
  • Public Service Announcement - Informational messaging to raise an audience’s awareness about important issues
  • Security Alerts - A notification that the security of a system, either software or hardware, has been compromised in some way and there is an action you need to take.
  • Polling and Voting - The sending of surveys and polling/voting campaigns.
Message frequency*What is the frequency of the SMS sent to users. Examples: 2 messages per month; one time (2FA)
Opt-in Type*, Opt-in URL*Opt-in Screenshot*, Add a Message Flow*Opt-in URL, screenshot and message flow depend on the Opt-in Type selected. An explanation and detailed samples of each of the opt-in type is discussed in SMS Consent Best Practices.
Opt-In Message*

Enter here the message an end-user will receive once they opt in to the messaging program. This should contain the program (brand) name, HELP, opt-out, message frequency disclosure, 'Msg&Data rates may apply" disclosure.

Example: "Welcome to {brand}. Message frequency will vary. Message and Data Rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or stop to cancel."

Opt-out Message*

Enter here the message an end-user will receive after texting the keyword STOP. 

Example: "You have opted out of {brand} messaging. No further messages will be sent. To opt back in, reply UNSTOP."

Help Message*

Enter here the message an end-user will receive after texting the keyword HELP. 

Example: "{Brand}: For help, please visit {website} or call {phone number}."

Messaging Program Description*Describe here your use case for using a text message service.
Example: We use text message service to reach out to update our customers what date and time the technicians will visit their residence to complete the needed maintenance.
Sample Text Message 1 to 4*Only 2 sample text messages are required. But if you have multiple use cases, provide at least one sample for each use case.
Text messages will include content related to lending*Select Yes here if the campaign will include content related to direct lending or other loan arrangements
Text messages will include embedded links*Select Yes here if the campaign will include embedded link of any kind. If you select Yes, you will be asked for an Embedded link sample.
Note: The use of generic URL shorteners is not acceptable. You can read more on this here.
Text messages will include embedded phone numbers*Select Yes here if the campaign will include content with embedded phone numbers.
Text messages are being used for affiliate marketing*

Affiliate marketing is a disallowed content. The answer to this should always be NO.

Affiliate Marketing is an activity in which companies offer to pay individuals or other businesses — the 'affiliates' — to promote their products or services, usually in return for a commission on any sales made.

Text messages will include age-gated content*

Select YES if the campaign includes any age-gated content as defined by Carrier and CTIA guidelines. An example of this is content related to alcohol.

Age gating means that website users must input their date of birth. It cannot be a yes or no question.
