RCS in Inbox

What is RCS?

RCS (Rich Communication Services) is the next generation of text messaging. It enables richer, branded experiences beyond SMS/MMS including media, logos, colors, and interactive features.

In the Inbox, RCS works seamlessly with SMS/MMS: if the recipient’s device doesn’t support RCS, messages automatically fall back to SMS/MMS for reliable delivery.

Prerequisites

  • A Twilio account with Messaging Service enabled by your Admin in Twilio Console

  • Access to Textel or Capacity Inbox

Sending Messages

  1. Go to Inbox → SMS -> click on Create Conversation.

  2. Select an RCS-enabled line.

  3. Compose your message and send.

    • If the recipient’s device supports RCS, the message will be delivered as RCS.

    • If not, it will automatically fall back to SMS/MMS.

View Conversations

  • Conversation Card: RCS lines are clearly labeled.

  • Conversation View: Customer details show RCS-enabled status.

  • Fallback messages appear in the same thread, so your conversation stays seamless.
