Concierge Menus
Introduction
Concierge Menus is a feature that allows users to quickly navigate between different Concierge Bots.
There may be use cases where it is helpful to have the option to load multiple Concierge Bots on a site and give the user the option to engage with the one most appropriate to their need. For example, you may have dedicated bots for different languages or different ones that focus on specific regions or departments.
Menus allow you to offer these dedicated experiences through a single entry point and offer your users options to navigate to the Concierge experience that makes the most sense for them.
Key Features
- Provide quick access to multiple Concierges on a single website
- Create dedicated bots with specific access to content or purpose
- Complete control over which Concierges show in which menu
Menu Setup
There is a new menu option within the Settings section, under Concierges. Click on the Menus link to view any existing menus and create new menus.
Creating a Menu
Click the Add button at the top right of the page. From here, you will be taken to a page to complete the set up of your Concierge Menu.
Menu Details
- Provide a menu name. This will be used to identify the menu when attaching a menu to a Concierge.
- Provide your header image. It is recommended that this is your company logo or an image associated with your brand. It is not required but recommended.
- Provide a title. This gives you the ability to explain to the user the purpose of the menu. It is not required but recommended.
- Provide a description. Additional text that you can use to further explain the purpose of the menu or the expectations for the user. This is also optional.
- Select menu display style, either buttons or dropdown. This dictates how the menu will surface the options for the user to choose which Concierge bot to interact with. It defaults to the button style.
Concierge Menu Options
This section is where you will select which Concierge Bots will be included in the menu selection. You can add or remove Concierges as necessary to build your menu. Note: Concierge bots need to be active in order to effectively be used in menus.
Adding Concierge Bots to a menu does not mean the menu itself will load once a user navigates to a specific Concierge. Building the menu is a separate activity from attaching the menu to a Concierge. A Concierge can be included in a menu list, but once a user chooses a Concierge to engage with, it is possible to NOT display the menu to allow users to toggle back. Details are noted in the Concierge Bot Switcher Menu Settings section below.
Once you have completed setting up your menu, it is time to attach it to your Concierge(s).
Concierge Bot Switcher Menu Settings
Menus can be used simply as an entry point and then once a Concierge is selected the user will continue to interact with that bot until a fresh session. However, you can also set up menus to be persistent across your Concierge Bots so that if someone choose a Concierge at the start, they will still see the menu options at the top, allowing them to navigate to another bot at any time.
If you want to allow users to have the option to see the menu as they navigate to each Concierge in the menu, you will have to go into the settings for each Concierge and configure the Bot Switcher Menu Settings. In this section, you will select which menu should display within the Concierge. If none is selected, no menu will ever display when a user is engaged with that specific bot. If a menu is selected, users who engage with that Concierge will always have the option to navigate to any other Concierge listed in the menu.
Adding a Menu to Your Site
Now that you have finished creating your menu and associating them to your Concierge Bots, it is time to add the menu to your site. You have a couple of options to accomplish this.
- Copy the menu code directly to your site. Instead of using the code of a single Concierge, you can replace it with the menu code that can be acquired on the menu details page and clicking the "Copy Code" button. This option will load the menu on your site and present users with the menu logo, title, description, and button/dropdown options.
- Indirectly via the Concierge already loaded on your site. While it is ideal to use the menu code directly, you can allow users to have a more indirect path to interact with the menu by simply associating the menu to the Concierge already loaded on your site using the Bot Switcher Menu setting. This will display a small dropdown at the top of your existing Concierge and allow users to navigate to any other Concierges in the menu.
In either option, if you do not want to present users with a dead-end experience, it is important to make sure each Concierge you have included in your menu also has it selected in its settings.
